Day 1 Depart New York for Istanbul via Turkish
Airlines
Day 2 Arrive in Istanbul, relax, unwind, welcome
dinner.
Day 3 Visit the Blue Mosque, Aya Sofia, Topkapi
Palace, and the Archaeology Museum. Overnight in Istanbul.
Day 4 Visit Troy. Overnight in Canakkale.
Day 5 Drive to Pergamom to see the aesclepion, the theatre,
and the temple of Telesphor. Overnight in Izmir.
Day 6 Visit Sardis, its Roman Gymnasium, 3rd century Synagogue,
and temple dedicated to Artemis. Overnight in Kusadasi.
Day 7 Visit Ephesus. See Odeon, Curetes Street,
the Celsus Library, and the Terrace Houses. Overnight in Kusadasi.
Day 8 Drive to Bodrum to visit the Museum of Underwater Archaeology.
Overnight in Bodrum.
Day 9 Visit Aphrodisias with its stadium, theatre, temple
of Aphrodite, and sculpture collection. Continue on to Pamukkale
to see the limestone terraces. Overnight in Pamukkale.
Day 10 Visit Roman Hieropolis and, on the way to Antalya,
visit Termessos, the only town Alexander the Great failed to conquer.
Overnight in Antalya.
Day 11 Visit Aspendos, which has one of the best
preserved Roman theatres in the world, and Perge. Drive to Konya,
the home of the Whirling Dervishes. Overnight in Konya.
Day 12 Visit Catal Hoyuk, accompanied by archaeologists.
Drive on to Cappadocia, visiting a Caravansarai from the 13th century
along the way. Overnight in Nevsehir.
Day 13 Visit the rock churches of Goreme, and the fairy chimneys
and troglodyte dwellings of Uchisar. For the evening's entertainment,
we will attend a folklore show in an underground cave. Overnight
in Nevsehir.
Day 14 Visit Hattusas, capital of the Hittites, including
Yazilikaya, the outdoor shrine. Overnight in Ankara.
Day 15 Visit the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations in Ankara
and Ataturk's Memorial. Fly to Istanbul. Farewell dinner. Overnight
in Istanbul.
Day 16 Transfer to the airport and depart for
home.
